I was born into a musical family and my mother began my piano lessons as soon as I was old enough to sit on the stool without falling off. I therefore cannot remember a time in my life when I could not read music or play the piano.

From the age of around eleven I was a frequent prize-winner in music festivals and performed regularly in local and school events both as soloist and in a variety of instrumental and vocal groups. Around this time I also began to play the clarinet.

Following a family move to Glasgow, at the age of thirteen I became a student in the junior department of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music (now the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) studying piano with Bela Simandi. After leaving school, I was accepted as a full-time student by the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and continued my studies there with Raymond O’Connell. During my time here I won the Sibelius Essay Prize and was runner-up in the Governors’ Recital Prize for piano.

After graduating, I began teaching piano both as a private tutor and (for a short time) in several Glasgow schools. At the same time I continued to study performance with Irene Seigle. For many years I have performed regularly as soloist in selected venues not only in Scotland, but as far afield as Germany and Romania.

Alongside my solo activities, I work with singers and other instrumentalists, and I continue to teach piano and music theory.

Within the last few years I have recorded two piano solo albums and a voice and piano recital with Lewis Allan (bass-baritone) featuring Schumann’s “Dichterliebe”.

In 2012 I graduated with an M.Mus (Musicology) research degree from the University of Glasgow.
